Does Cook'n let you selectively highlight and export recipes to a new Cook'n cookbook? Haven't tried this but there might be an option...

Yes it does let you export a specific Cookbook. But file is still in .dvo format. And when you import into Cook'n you can import to a specific cookbook or make a new one. But that still won't solve my problem. I still don't see any way using the import wizard to selectively choose only ONE specific cookbook to convert to use in BigOven format.

Any other ideas would be greatly welcomed.

Once the recipes are imported, you can do file searches (e.g., title, or tags, etc.) to search for specific sets of recipes and then highlight them all, right click on them, and say "Copy to Recipe Box", or "Move to Recipe Box" on the context menu. Hope this helps.... again, this free import utility had fairly simple design goals -- mainly meant to save a lot of retyping.

Trust me, I tried this but when you are dealing with over 17,000+ recipes from 25+ different Cook'n titles you get tons of duplicates and it is a "nightmare" ~~ so this is why I wish we could just convert Cook'n Titles individually instead of ALL titles going into one big file. But since this isn't possible (and would be great if it was an option in a future release) I choose to just type in the ones I want.

If I only had a few titles then I could justify doing by "Copy to Recipe Box" but with tons and tons of title it's just not time efficient for me.

I see that you just bought Big Oven. I have Big Oven too and I also have the Cook'n Software. It is my understanding that you need the software to import the different cookbooks and once you have those in Cook'n you have the ability to use the 'import wizard' to get them into Big Oven.

I have Big Oven on 2 laptops, did a test on one laptop first using the 'import wizard' to convert all the dvo files into the Big Oven format.

I made a RBox folder in BigOven 1st called Cookn and then imported to it. The only drawback with this is you can't just import specific cookbooks, which sucks!! So, after the complete DVO file imported I ended up with 17,000+ recipes from ALL the different cookbook in ONE file!!! What a mess ~~ spent a lot of time removing tons and tons of duplicate recipes that were previously in different cookbook titles in Cook'n. It would be much better if there was a way to just import one specific Cook'n title (i.e. Cook'n with Pillsbury) etc. and not have to do a mass move.

So needless to say I didn't import Cook'n into my other laptop for this reason. It will be faster for me and more time saving to just type in the ones I want from printed out copies or just looking at the other laptop while typing.

That's really a question for Cook'n support, not us, sorry. We simply provide a free utility to allow Cook'n DBF files to come into the program with minimal retyping.

I just bought BigOven. I had seen e-cookbooks in the Cook'n (dvo.com) site and bought one to import in BigOven. The download cookbook file gives me a message that it wants me to have the Cookn software installed to process the cookbook file.

Is there a way to get the database file out of the download so I can import it in BigOven using the import utility wizard?
