Recipe boxes not working in the unregistered version

I am trying out the unregistered version, and so far am finding it very frustrating. I import recipes to a recipe box, but the box stays empty. I can search for the recipe by name and find it, but if I look in the actual box, there's nothing there. Is this because it's unregistered? I couldn't find any information about the limitations of the unregistered version.

I'm not certain how I can get a good "feel" for this program with such limitations.

Thank you very much for letting me know about the resizing, no use in hoping for things that aren't gonna happen!

As for the seven letters to type, you are SO right and I now realize that I have been sucked into today's philosophy of always looking for a quicker way to do things, like sacrificing a name to use letters in it's place. Shame on me! Pretty soon, we'll be sitting at the Thanxgiving table and Uncle Charlie will tell one of his typical jokes that isn't funny, just embarrassing and a bunch of us will be saying " L-O-L" while trying not to roll our eyes! But if someone would actually tell a funny joke, some of us will be on the floor, gasping for air and saying "R-O-F-L". Geez, will it actually come to that? I hope not but you just never know!

Resizing program screen?

Hi!

Oh, I am still in love with BigOven!!! I do find a few things that I hope you are going to fix. For this subject I

did research your forums and wasn't really sure if I was on the same page as the others. I do use Vista in

case you needed to know that.

When I open your BigOven program, I have two choices in size. Either filling my whole screen or clicking on

the middle button each time, to make it smaller but not the size I want it. Is there a way to fix this? Most programs

will allow you to drag the borders and insides to where you want them and then when you close the program using

the X in the upper right corner, it will save that size until you change it. But I can't get that to work on BigOven and

it's frustrating. I'm hoping that maybe there is another way to do this because I like to have other things visible while

using BigOven without having to click on the Window's Status bar buttons. And I use another program that puts an

Object bar at the bottom which I am then forced to close to use BigOven. Please tell me there is or that it's in the work?

How often do you do updates?

Another thing, so many times I want to shorten the name when talking about your great program but BO just sounds

rather unpleasant, lol. We have to come up with something better, lol. Maybe slipping "The" at the beginning, making it

then TBO? Hmmmm, maybe that would work, The Big Oven! Ok, I have to stay serious but you're so nice in always

answering questions I've laid on your plate and I've laid quite a few! Thank you for being so patient and helpful, people

like you are in short supply any more after people spend even harder to get money due to the economy but yet so many

companies seem to forget that. But you don't and I applaud you for that.

Ok, I'm sorry, I digressed. I tend to use 50 words when I talk when only 5 are necessary!

So, is there a way to resize the outside size of the screen AND the inside boundaries of the working screen too is my

basic question.

Are there Meal Plans for download?

I am know to the cooking world and I am trying to use BigOven to create my meal plans. I am having one heck of a time to choose all of the meals for a full week meal plan. So I was wandering if there is a section to download pre-configured weekly meal plans?

Searching multiple recipe boxes

I'm just setting up my recipe database and want to make sure that I set it up to match the way I expect to use it.

Am I correct in that the only way to find, for example, all of the appetizers listed in any recipe box is via Advanced Search? Or if I want to use one specific ingedient and want to see the matches in all recipe boxes I'd have to use advanced search?

Can I set the default search to be advanced instead of quick?

I guess that I'm trying to understand the advantage of using recipe boxes instead of keywords. I'm lening toward utilizing a flat database with keywords but want to make sure before I get too invested in the setup of the database.

Generally speaking, are the recipes on BigOven well tagged (keywords) with ingredients cooking methodology, etc?

newbie have no idea how to...

Hey there everyone! I am a newbie here, It all spawned from my grandmother wanting to be able to quickly find her favorite recipes and I thought digital would be the way to go...so I found BigOven. I have downloaded the free trial..and have been playing but I have a question. On the web section it looks on bigoven automatically. I can go places like Epicurious and such but can't import. I figure I'm gonna have to manually do it but is it possible somehow to copy and paste a recipe from my recipe box in Epicurious and not have to retype the whole thing? I have no idea how to go about doing this and could really use some step by step help here :) Pretty please!! :):)

Entering Ingredients

When entering ingredients I forgot to add one item. When I add it to my ingredient list it appears at the bottom of the list, but it is one of the first ingredients used in my recipe. Is is possible to reorder the list of ingredients or add an ingredient to the middle of the list?

Program crash on VISTA

When I try to edit several UNITS in a recipe, (changing pounds to lb; teaspoons to tsp), the first correction will take until I make a second correction. When I enter the second abreviation and click enter, the first correction will revert back to the original entry. If I make any correction and hit the down arrow to move the recipe up, the program crashes. Continuous happening.

Not able to log on

I tried the instructions in the Help section regarding deleting cookies but it did not help. I can get to my chef page but I can't access the "Try Soon" list and I thought that when I first logged on my name was on the page. I am not very computer savvy but this is very frustrating. Help! Should I just start over?
