Navigation via ENTER Key option

I'm a very happy new user of BigOven software. When entering a new recipe, I see that the TAB key is used to toggle between fields. It would be a "nice to have" to add a navigation option that would allow users to specify which key to use (ENTER vs. TAB) to toggle between fields. I've used other software products that offer this as an option. Thanks for considering this as a future enhancement idea.

Print Cookbook

I have been researching cookbook software and I really like the features of BigOven. However, according to the reviews and product comparisons that I have seen, BigOven does not have the feature for printing cookbooks. Please confirm that this is correct and if this is correct, does BigOven plan on adding this feature anytime soon? Thank you.

The other day I went through recipes offline in Big Oven and found a bunch that I would like to try soon. I added the tag "@Try Soon" that was available. Today I went in to find those recipes that I had marked and noticed there isn't a way to search for the recipes with this tag. I would love for there to be a way for me to pull up all the recipes marked in this way throughout all recipe boxes. If I didn't just miss something (which is possible), I think this would be a very helpful tool to add.

Req: Undo or Save button

Can we please get an undo capability or maybe a button to save the recipe? I have lost quite a few recipes by placing my cursor in a dropdown box and accidentally selecting some new value by moving the mouse wheel. After doing that, there is no way to get back the data you had in there. As it is now, it is way too easy to lose data and not be able to retrieve it. We need some way to revert back to the unchanged recipe before it gets permanently overwritten.

Automatic updates for prices

Hi............I'm probably dreaming way ahead. Big Oven giving automatic updates (like antivirus software does) into software for changing grocery store prices, including sales prices, on a weekly basis. The grocery stores would have to input their prices to a website from their computers. They already have their prices on a computer. They could charge a subscription fee for doing this. This would promote their business by free advertising of their prices. Shoppers could plan their meals around sales items, saving lots of money. Shoppers would know prices of individual items and also total menu costs. Big Oven users could drag recipes to menu--to shopping list--show individual & total prices. If you can't afford total, try a different meal. WOW.......What a dream!

Coupon Tracking

My wife and I are trying to find good ways to quickly organize our recipes and shopping lists. We found your product and are working through the trial now to see how well it integrates with us. One of the key features we have been trying unsuccessfully to find, however, is a solution that also integrates tracking of grocery coupons. Has that been considered for a future release?

A few more thoughts on screen-importing into BigOven, for consideration for future versions of the product. Here's my workflow now:

1. Locate a recipe I want to enter in one of my magazines. Search the associated website to see if the recipe is online and if a picture is available.

2. If a picture is available, save it to my local drive.

3. Search BigOven's recipe boxes in case I've already entered the recipe.

4. Copy & paste the recipe text from the website to my local text editor.

5. Manually process the text file -- twiddle case on title (Make It Smart Sentence Case), check/replace special characters, move blocks of text around (group NOTES items together, for example). Highlight & copy the modified text into the clipboard.

6. Within BigOven, ctrl-i to launch the screen importer. Highlight all the appropriate sections and click the buttons. Finally, click "Import".

7. Click "Rate" on the "View" tab. Click "I haven't yet tried this recipe", enter Active Time & Total Time (if known) and click "OK".

8. Click the "Edit" tab. Check that everything imported okay, moving instructions around as necessary ("chopped parsley" becomes ingredient "parsley" and notes/prep "chopped", for example). Fix "tablespoons", "ounces", "pounds", etc, which BigOven doesn't understand as Units. Specify "Cuisine" and "Main Ingredient", if known.

9. Click "Notes/Tags" tab. Click "Edit..." and select tags for the recipe. If there is a picture, "Browse" for it and attach it.

10. Finally, go to the "View" tab and make sure everything is okay.

BigOven should perform a dupe check as early as possible and notify the user of any suspicion of duplicates -- maybe it could do a quick dupe-check on the recipe title as soon as the title is identified in the screen import.

Ideally, the BigOven Screen Import dialog should contain MOST, if not ALL, of the options in steps 7-9, above, on one screen. Certainly Active/Prep time, would I make it, rating, main ingredient, cuisine, picture, and maybe even tags should go into that dialog. If those items are moved around, and BigOven is educated about plural units ("tablespoons", "pounds", etc), then we've gone a long way to improving the convenience of the screen import. I don't see any way to eliminate the need to manually fix "chopped parsley".

[FR] MENUs in the BigOven client

It would be awesome if I could, within the BigOven client, select a recipe or a group of recipes (marked recipes, for example) and save them to a MENU. This menu would also have generous space for notes (like timing, wine pairings, reflections on the success, etc). The existnig MENUs would be accessible from the left-side pane under VIEWS. The MENU itself could have SCALING functionality... So, for example, if I have 6 recipes in my MENU I could apply scaling to the MENU (as opposed to the individual recipes) and it would apply that scaling to all the recipes in the MENU.

Once a menu is created, it could be dragged-and-dropped onto the calendar, the shopping list, printing, and anywhere else, just like a single recipe. These menus could optionally be uploaded to BigOven as a public menu.

I would use this function because I create menus for dinner parties and would like to have a single source for storing the menus, wine suggestions, and thoughts, and BigOven is the ideal place for that. The more I think about this idea, the more I like it! I hope you'll consider it for inclusion in the upcoming version.

Save (and lock) on edit page

I'd like a either an undo or a 'save' confirmation on the edit page. Once I've created a recipe, and notice that something is not quite correct, it's way too easy to change something you didn't mean to change by accident (on the ingredient line particularly), and there's no way to recover from the change unless you happen to remember what the recipe said originally.

Every other editing program I've ever used has some kind of confirmatory dialog when modifying an existing document, and most have an undo function and a save-as option so that one can recover from a change that was made if necessary.

I believe this would be a very helpful addition. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's goofed up a recipe and has had to root around to find the correct version.
