Recipe Playlists for your Try Soon Queue

Here at BigOven, we're all about getting you Unstuck for Dinner.

A couple years ago, we introduced the "Try Soon Queue", which is an ordered list of recipes that automatically expire for you after 30 days. ("Favorites", on the other hand, stay marked permanently.)

We think the Try Soon Queue is a great tool to help you get unstuck for dinner. When you have a minute or two, you can stop by BigOven.com, add some recipes to your upcoming Try Soon Queue, and then reference it whenever you're feeling the "What to make tonight" blues.

But sometimes, don't you wish you could have someone make this list for you? Well, today, you can. We've just pulled together a bunch of "Recipe Playlists", which are now available on BigOven.com and even in our free iPhone App.

Recipe Playlists are 20 Great Cooking Suggestions put together by our editor, organized by theme. For instance, there are 20 great Winter Suggestions, 20 great Vegan Suggestions, 20 great Asian suggestions, and more. We can't guarantee you'll love every one of the recipes on that list, since everyone's tastes are different. But we do think it'll help get you unstuck for dinner.

Currently, there are 20 playlists of 20 recipes each. We'll be adding more over time.

New BigOven.com Feature: Place Suggestions on Other's Try Soon Queue

We've just released a fun new feature for the BigOven.com website.

You can now suggest recipes for your other BigOven friends... and those recipes go right on (the bottom of) their Try Soon Queue, along with any brief comments you'd like to make. (NOTE: Since Try Soon Queues are public, your comments are also public to all users. Use email to send private messages.)

Here's how to add recipes to your BigOven friends' Try Soon Queues:

Simply visit a recipe page, and look to the upper right menu bar. You'll see an option "Suggest to Friend".
Click it, and enter the BigOven chef's username. It's that easy!

Possible uses:

Got a relative who is just learning to cook? Help queue them up with your favorites.
Notice a recipe that a friend just has to try? Put it on their Try Soon List!
Make some suggestions to help friends and family eat a little better
Help get your friends unstuck!

At the moment, we're also experimenting a bit with bringing up the visibility of the next 3 items on your Try Soon list to the BigOven homepage at www.bigoven.com. If you're logged in, you'll see your top 3 upcoming recipes right there, waiting for you.

New users signing up automatically get two recipes added to their 'Try Soon' Queue just to get them started.

One other improvement -- you can now Find Other BigOven Users if you know what their username starts with or if you know what their email address starts with.
