Users: DO NOT change location of My Big Oven Recipes folder during install/update

After installing update, I encountered problems with importing from BO.com and other websites, deleting recipes, "losing" new recipes & recipe boxes, and other issues posted on this board.

During install I had changed the location of My Big Oven Recipes folder from the default (shared folder) to My Documents. Even though we are given the option to change the location during install, Big Oven did not like it; thus the problems mentioned above.

I uninstalled & re-installed, allowing the MBOR folder to be put in the default directory, and now everything works just fine.

If you are experiencing any problems with importing, deleting, pictures, "losing" recipes, etc., and you did change the location of the folder, I urge you to uninstall, re-install, and allow it to go to default location. Hopefully it will work for you as it did for me!

recipe titles too small to see on laptop

i bought a new laptop that runs vista 64 bit. all the recipe titles on the left of the screen are so small i cant read anything. I did figure out how to make the right side larger, but nothing for the left where all of our recipes are. please help~ thank you berrypink

Can I restore from two back up files that have different info into one program?

I just got started putting in recipes when my computer went down. Now I have loaded the program on another computer and going on with entering my recipes. When I get my computer back ( approx 6 weeks) will I be able to restore the back up file from one computer into the other without loosing anything in either backup files?

Errors on nutrition analysis

I keep getting HUGE errors in the nutritional analysis of my recipes. I have checked the Nutrient Information for ingredients and they are, for the most part correct (although some of them omit information). I have gone through and added the nutrients by hand and with a calculator and the analysis for the recipe will be off by as much as 5x!

I purchased this program particularly for managing my brittle diabetes and mistakes in the nutrient information can mean a serious medical problem for me.

The program also appears to have great difficulty finding ingredients even though I have used it a dozen times before. When I try to find an ingredient for linking to nutrient information, the program cannot find it so I have to go through full list to find it. I am listing ingredients the way they are named on the list, so there is no reason for this ohter than a bug.

Another thing that is irritating but doesn't render the program unuseable is that I am unable to delete recipe boxes. I have gone to my folders directory and deleted and renamed files but the old files and/or names still show up when I try to open a file.

If there is no fix, please refund my money.

New Computer

I had Big Oven installed on my windows based computer but it crashed. I had ordered the eDS protection plan so that I can re-download Big Oven. Now we have an iMac computer though so I need to know how to download Big Oven to that. I saved all my recipes onto a thumb-drive. I canNOT remember my serial number from when I ordered it before. PLEASE HELP!!! I MISS BIG OVEN!!!

Is There a Newer Verision Than 1.8.979 ?

I’m currently running BigOven Deluxe Edition version 1.8.979. Today when I opened the program I was prompted to check for updates, so I did.

My screen says,

“You are running BigOven Deluxe Edition version 1.8.979”

Below that the program advises me that there is a new version of the program available for download with a post date July 16, 2008. But I downloaded that back on July 22, 2008 and installed it to get Version 1.8.979.

So, why is it telling me that there is a new version available?

Running the latest Big Oven update

When I try to run the latest Bib Oven update to my Deluxe Version 1.8.978 I get the following error message, "The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate"

I am running Microsoft Vista Ultimate.

Can anyone help?

Can't import recipes after downloading update, getting 'invalid date checksum' error

I loaded a download, and can not longer import recipes (using the gray import button). Am online, that's not the problem. Also have error message 'invalid date checksum' when going to desktop links. After update (tried twice before it worked) I have too many desktop links, all but one getting this message. Never had a problem before - I have the deluxe version.

Can't "view" my recipes

When I try to open a recipe, I receive this error message:

c:\Documents and Settings\All

Users\Documents\themes\recipetheme0.htm:No such file or directory

It will allow me to open the "edit" tab and I can see everything there, but I cannot view the recipe in the "view" tab. I've had this software since Christmas and did not have this problem before tonight.

HELP!

windows mobile 6
