Better Butter

Regarding “Kerrygold Naturally Softer Pure Irish Butter”

Although I have been a member of Big Over since… well… about 2 weeks after their not-so-humble beginning, I do not believe I have ever posted here. A discovery has been made however that simply must be disseminated to the masses. I have discovered the sheer bliss of KellyGold Irish Butter! I was given a sample on a piece of crusty French bread at a rather large grocery store and am amazed that security was not called to have my leaping and yelling-for-joy self removed from the premises. This butter was the most amazing thing I had tasted in years and everyone within the store, stockroom employees included, became well aware of this fact.

It is rather distressing to realize that I have gone through nearly half of my life being deprived of such a pleasure. It really is a testament to how long it has been since I have graced a professional kitchen with my presence, and how lacking I have been in choosing my friends. Not one of them has shared this knowledge with me, I will assume out of ignorance. The time has come to perhaps find some new friends.

This butter, or better yet this “gift from the gods”, is not inexpensive. At Woodmans ½ of a pound, or 2 sticks, will cost nearly $4. Sam’s Club is somewhat better. You can acquire a 17.5 oz. (500g) tub of pure heaven, containing nothing more than pasteurized cream and salt, for $6 and change (I have only tried the tub, where the butter is sort of whipped, and not the sticks). If this cost is out of your price-range ask for a stick or tub for Christmas! If left at room temperature for a bit it becomes decadently spreadable, allowing for a genuinely hefty slathering, and the color is a luscious deep yellow, almost gold. It tastes like you always dreamed butter could taste. My only warning is that this gem-of-a-dairy-product is addictive. If there was a center of some sort available for Kellygold Irish Butter addicts I may consider checking in, but right now I have things under control, limiting myself to one generous slather per day. My advice is to enjoy it like a truffle, slowly and with enormous appreciation.

I am sure many of you are already familiar with Kellygold Irish Butter, but for those of you who are not consider this an insider butter tip from a forthcoming friend who hopes you will not blame her when you step on a scale!

Better Butter

My daughter spend 5 weeks in Irelad and swears by this stuff and many other Irish foods.  Including the fct that she refuses to eat US Made Yogurt because she says we (US) put too much other stuff in our food.  Saddly she is right and always enjoys this golden jewel when ever she finds it.

Better Butter

I've wanted to try this for months, but I could never convince myself it was worth the extra money.  But now I think I have to try some thanks for the extra push towards it.

Better Butter

Oh, my, this butter. . .  Publix had the garlic one on sale and I bought one stick.  Now, my family expects this treat for every holiday to smear on my homemade sourdough bread.  Oh, my. . .
