Homemade CakeAfter much searching I have come up empty handed. I need a recipe for just a white or yellow homemade cake that isnt too heavy and holds up well. Everyone that I make comes out heavy and falls. Is there a trick to it? I follow the recipe to a T. My batters are always really fluffy, not at all watery like a cake box cake. I want a homemade cake thats more like a cake box cake. Sounds terrible but I hate taking in all the chemicals that come with the cake box mix and just want something that taste good and isnt a chemical. Thanks! |

Re: Homemade CakeHi notsofast, this cake always works for me......rises perfectly everytime. I make it in 2 8" round tins. 7oz self raising flour 7oz caster sugar 7oz butter at room temp 1 level tsp baking powder 4 eggs beaten 2 tablesp milk oven temp: 180c, 350f Put all ingredients into a food processor or bowl, combine to a smooth soft batter. Divide between lined tins and bake for 20 mins until golden and cake springs back when pressed. Turn out adn cool completely. I love this filled with jam or fruit and cream. You can also add lemon zest & juice, cocoa powder etc to change the flavours. Hope this helps... |

Homemade Cake
Try using cake flour instead of all-purpose flour. |
