Sifting dry ingredientsI know very little about baking so I am wondering what exactly does sifting do for dry ingredients? |

Re: Sifting dry ingredientsIt does a few things:
1) It breaks up clumps in a set of ingredients, making the cooking more even and final texture smoother
2) It creates smaller particles, which increases the overall surface area, allowing heat to move more evenly
3) It helps you notice any impurities, which can be thrown out.
4) It's fun and makes a fun sound. Kids love it :-)

Re: Sifting dry ingredientsRemoves clumps and adds a lighter air-like feel so things come out smoother or lighter and fluffier |
