This method of preparing the apples was previously unknown to me and I am pleased to report that it worked perfectly. One dinner guest commented that it was the best apple pie she'd ever eaten and "seconds" were common amongst the group. I had some Bramley cooking apples available to me which are a truly delicious, sharp-flavoured cooking apple (but reduces to pulp when cooked) and I used a mixture of these a
sgrishka11/15/2009 8:04:51 AMThis medal is for Sunday Pot Roast. Used for family party to universal acclaim. The recipe is perfect as written. I used the full quantity of wine which tasted delicious but (and am I the only person this has happened to?) the potatoes turned to a deep red colour. Once explained to the diners this was perfectly acceptable but initially a little off-putting. Next time (and there will be a next time) I will cook the potatoes seperately. Try this recipe - it's really good!.
