2 lb Ground round steak
1 ts Ground ginger
1/2 ts Garlic -- chopped fine
1/2 ts Ground cardamom
2 ts Chiles -- chopped fine
1 ts Lemon juice
2 ts Berbere or awaze
2 ts Salt
1/2 c Onions -- chopped fine
4 ts Green pepper -- chopped
1/4 c Niter kebbeh

Original recipe makes 8 Servings



In a large skillet, melt the niter kebbeh over low heat. Add onions, green pepper, chiles, ginger, garlic, and cardamom. Raise heat to med. and cook 2 min., stirring constantly. Place mixture in a bowl and cool for 15 min. Stir in lemon juice, berbere and salt. Stir in raw beef and mix thoroughly. Serve with injera, breads, or crackers.
