Ingredients

1 ts Baking soda
1/2 c Light corn syrup
1/8 ts Salt
1 ts Butter
1 c Pecan halves
1 c Sugar
1 ts Vanilla

Preparation

Stir pecans, sugar, syrup, and salt together in a 1 1/2 quart glass bowl. Microwave on HIGH 7 to 8 minutes, stirring well after 4 minutes. At the end of 8 minutes, add butter and vanilla. Blend well. Return to microwave and cook on HIGH 1 to 2 minutes more. Remove and add baking soda and gently stir until mixture is light and foamy. Pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet and let cool 30 minutes to 1 hour. Break into pieces and store in airtight container.

Terrible! One bite, spit it out, threw entire thing in garbage. Followed directions exactly. Oh my god, the worst brittle I've ever tasted.

Idiot proof! I've used this recipe for the last two Christmases and it just doesn't fail me. I hate standing at the stove trying to guess if it's done enough or holding a thermometer. I just use whatever nuts I want and presto Christmas presents.

Most Brittles stick to my husbands Dentures, but this recipe doesn't. We picked up Pecans this year and are trying many different recipes using pecans. Thanks for this recipe.
