Preheat oven to 350F. Line an 8 inch or 9 inch square baking dish with raspberries. Make batter by mixing margarine, 1/2 cup sugar, milk,flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla. Pour batter over fruit and spread evenly. Mix remaining sugar and water. Pour over batter. Bake for 1 hour. Serve warm with cream, ice cream, or whipped cream. Serves 8-9. Scubasyl 2 years agoI used half raspberries & half blackberries and as recommended doubled the batter. It was fantastic!! Best cobbler I ever ate. Can't wait to make it again!
Patgibs 2 years agoSo I used half rasberries half black berries and it was amazing, delicious the only problem was not enough batter next time I will double the batter!

Jacquelynrn 2 years agoThis was a waste of 4 cups of frest raspberries. Knew there was a problem when it said to pour batter over berries. I had to spoon the batter out and there was not enough to cover the berries. It did not raise at all. I made it with the exact ingredients in the reciple.

Gerry_mouse 2 years agoGreat dessert - I had to google to swap the American cup measurements to UK weights (BigOven converts 4 cups of raspberries to mils!?) but it worked a treat and was gorgeous with singe cream poured over. Big thanks from everyone in our house, the bowls were licked clean by all the children and the adults!
jamie.grinnell 3 years agoI didn't have enough raspberries so I used 1 c raspberries and 3 c blueberries for a fourth of July treat and it turned out amazing! I am definitely passing this recipe on!
