"I changed the recipe a little, I actually combined two recipies. Came out very well. I added cream style corn from the can, put some fried onions with red bell pepper, and instead of buttermilk I put sour cream. Everything turned out very well, my family loved it!"- Dobermangirl

JohnnyRaved 1 year agoI substituted bacon fat for butter. Nice flavor and texture. I doubled the sugar and will add more next time I make it, as I like a mild sweetness in my corn bread.
Henrymiles 2 years agoI fried bacon and left drippings in cast iron pan for a good coating. That's what makes this have a yummy crispy edge. I also added 1/2 cup of sweet potato pie filling to take it over the TOP!!!!!!!
jatleo 2 years agoRecipe was incomplete, I guessed at the butter (1/2 cup) & diced up the 2 slices of bacon, added to dry ingredients. I also added 1 cup of shredded cheese & 1 chopped jalapeno. Delicious
pols005 3 years agoI had some buttermilk to use up and tried this tonight along with some red bean and rice for dinner. Worked out very well.
BigB6958 3 years agoI've made this a couple of times and it is VERY nice and crusty. I also added old cheddar, real corn and some chipotle powder for a nice kick.
Zeissg 3 years agoGood - but two problems. First, didn't know how much butter was required. Second, didn't know what to do with the bacon. Outcome good, though.
