"This taste very good ,but we were very disappointed because it was not ready at the specified time in the recipe. We found that out at dinner time after we fixed our plates. I should have read the reviews to see that this dish should have been cooked longer . So I had to put it back in the oven for an additional 30 minutes and we will have to eat it for dinner tomorrow instead. But from what I tasted, I really enjoyed . Too bad the potatoes were not cooked completely. I will definitely make this again but will bake for at least an hour."- mogriff1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook onion in butter until soft, add flour and cook for 2 minutes, whisking. Whisk in milk and cook until thick and bubbly.
Remove from heat and add 3/4 cup of cheese, stirring until melted; season with salt and pepper.
Layer half of potatoes in a baking dish and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with half of sauce. Layer remaining potato slices on top of sauce and season. Top with remaining sauce and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, covered, for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. This recipe yields 4 servings.

shaydubb615 1 days 23 hours agoMade this last night, absolutely no leftovers, it was great. I used sharp cheddar (because I'm addicted to it) and parboiled the potatoes like others suggested. It came out perfect, I paired it with fried fish and some greens and everyone when to bed full

schauntel 2 months agoMy husband loves scalloped potatoes, I make this recipe often. Sometimes to spice it up which he loves. I put Pepper Jack cheese in it in stead.

htsandors 4 months agoThis is a great recipe, very tasty. Definitely needs a longer cooking time on the potatoes, I had them in for an extra 45 mins
rickgoranson 5 months agoThe 1st time I cooked it, the potatoes were still hard after cooking for 30 minutes. The 2nd time, I boiled the sliced potatoes for 10 minutes before cooking in oven for 30 minutes. Its well worth the extra 10 minutes or it will take an hour in the oven.........It turned out nice and tender.
Good2bme 5 months agoIncreased the cooking time and doubled the cheese(sharp cheddar, Parmesan, and mild cheddar mix). My family enjoyed it.
hollyloveland 6 months ago2nd time I tried this. 30 minutes is just not long enough to cook these potatoes

eleya_maureen 8 months agoSuper easy to make. I used 1 cup Velvetta cheese instead but less cheese would be better. I added mushrooms as well needs to cook longer 45-hour at 375

chefrennie 8 months agoQuite yummy and very simple to make. To kick up the sauce a notch added a tbsp of prepared dijon mustard and to keep the fat down omitted the cheese on top.
