"This is a great recipe! We have a cousin with a peanut allergy that visits us and instead of trusting store bought brands, we make our own! We omitted the nuts (of course) and the raisins. This was a great thing for the kids to make... and eat! They loved them so much that we made two batches in one week! Our cousin with allergy has gone back home, but we are making them again today... and probably next week too! lol ;-)"- Mrsbcooks

lorieichstedt 1 month agoI just made these tonight for the first time. I added about a 1/4 cup peanut butter. They are very chewy, and much cheaper/healthier than buying store bought bars. I wrapped them in plastic wrap, and put them in a plastic container. I am curious to know if these freeze/reheat well. I might give it a try.
Ozium 5 months agoThese are great. I substitute dried cranberries and dried apples for the raisins and nuts, and granola cereal for the crispy rice cereal. It's difficult to keep my family off of them while they're still warm and gooey.
leahkenyon 6 months agoWe omitted the cane sugar, raisins, and chocolate chips. For the nuts we used half roasted sunflower and half cinnamon almonds. Baked 30 mins. Not too sweet! Texture is slightly softer than Quaker Chewy, and feels a lot healthier.
mrgsk 7 months agoThese were very good. My daughter has a nut allergy so I added blueberries instead of nuts and it turned out great. My kids love this and don't want store bought anymore. Next time I will decrease the sugar to try to make healthier.
Tldcoupons 1 year agoAMAZING! This is the best granola bar recipe I've found yet! I added molasses instead of honey, added almond extract instead of vanilla, added dried blueberries and raisins and omitted the chocolate chips.
marciedoyle 1 year agoI have bought my last store bought granola bar, thanks for this recipe! Made them exactly as directed and they turned out wonderful.

leahkenyon 1 year agoThis time I rolled them into balls and baked at 350 for 10 mins. They are crispy outside and gooey inside. Perfect after school snacks and lunchbox treats!
leahkenyon 1 year agoGooey, yummy! Yes, they are granola bar shaped cookies. Will use half the chocolate chips next time.
Mamasrunning 2 years agoLove them! 5 and 2 year old also love. But why wouldn't they, they taste like cookies! I left out cereal, didn't have, and used coconut instead of walnuts. I used half craisins and half raisins. Cooked 20 min but that was a bit too long.
Kvines89 2 years agoUsed raw whole almonds, dark chocolate chips, raisins, and coconut pieces. Came out great, kinda tasted like a oatmeal cookie. And it baked in about 12 minutes.
amberdawn_8402 2 years agoThese are great! I added some crunchy peanut butter and omitted the raisins/dried fruit and I used milk chocolate chips. Picky boyfriend tested and approved! His friends also liked them. (Had to hide 'em so I could have a couple for breakfast in the morning)

BethanyWalker 3 years agoThis is a great recipe!!! I did some alterations...I didn't have white sugar so I replaced it with honey, adding 1/3 C instead of 2T. I added flax seed and mixed dry berries instead of raisins & left out the cereal because I didn't have it. I have kids that are not always crazy about my more healthful endeavors that really liked them. I buy granola bars on a regular basis and I probably won't anymore...I will MAKE them :)
