7up Pound Cake Preparation

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs (one egg at a time) and beat well. Add vanilla extract. Fold in flour alternating with 7Up. Put in a greased and floured cake pan or tube. Bake for 1 hour.

My grandmother would make this cake and it bakes better in a bunt pans and if you preheat your oven at 450 bake it at that temperature for 15 min then down at 325 for one hour it is great with fresh fruit

I don't know if the recipe does not call for enough flour or if I didn't fold properly but it was a disaster. Didn't rise and the center was jell.

Great cake! I also added lemon flavor. I also added additional stick of butter cup of sugar and cake flour and additional egg. It increased the height and fed more people.

Substituting vanilla extract with lemon extract really enhances the flavor. Also, try serving it warm topped a scoop of French vanilla ice cream.

The recipe ingredients are perfect, no improvements needed! I did have to bake the cake about 20 minutes longer than the recipe called for. At one hour, the cake was not done so I had to keep a watch and toothpick tested it every five minutes! Also grease and flour your pan very well - otherwise it will stick!
