1/2 cbarley; Uncooked
1/2 cCelery; chopped
1 tbMargarine
1/4 cA.1. steak sauce
1 14.5-oz canstewed tomatoes
2 qtWater
1/2 cOnions; chopped
1 lbBeef round; cut in 1 cubes
1 13.5-oz canbeef broth
1 10-oz packagefrozen peas & carrots
3 medpotatoes; peeled, cubed

Old-Fashioned Beef and Vegetable Soup Preparation

IN A LARGE HEAVY PAN, OVER MEDIUM HIGH HEAT, BROWN BEEF IN MARGARINE. ADD ONION, COOK UNTIL TENDER. STIR IN WATER, BROTH, BARLEY AND CELERY. HEAT TO A BOIL, COVER AND SIMMER ON LOW HEAT FOR 1 HOUR. ADD TOMATOES, PEAS AND CARROTS, POTATOES AND STAEK SAUCE, STIRRING TO BREAK UP TOMATOES. SIMMER COVERED FOR 30 MINUTES MORE OR UNTIL POTATOES ARE TENDER.
