This butterfinger cake recipe is the best cake ever, I make it all the time.

 "The flavor was WONDERFUL - everything was great EXCEPT, I don't think that a German Chocolate cake mix is the right cake to use. It wasn't substantial enough of a cake to "hold up" under the Eagle Brand milk and the caramel sauce. As it was cut it broke down more and more and just got really ugly really fast. The devil's food cake mix isn't as "soft" and would hold up better." - foodfreak02

Original recipe makes 12 Servings
1 boxGerman Chocolate Cake Mix; (baked according to package directions)
5 Butterfinger candy bars
1 jarCaramel ice cream topping
1 canSweetened condensed milk
Cool Whip; for topping
Chocolate syrup

Butterfinger Cake Preparation

Bake the cake according to package directions in a 13 x 9 inch pan. When it's done, and while it's still hot, punch holes in the cake and pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top making sure some of it sinks in the holes.

Do the same with the caramel ice cream topping. Sprinkle on some of the broken candy pieces. When it's cool, spread the Cool Whip topping on the top, and then sprinkle the rest of the broken bars. Then drizzle more caramel all over and then drizzle chocolate syrup all over in zig zags.

Hint! Put all your candy bars in the freezer. When you're ready to use them, take them from the freezer.

Leave the wrappers on and take a mallet or a hammer and smash them inside the wrappers. Keep cool

until you need them.

    Delicious!!! Made it for friends and they loved it. I used evaporated milk instead of sweetened condensed milk by mistake but it still turned out tasty and moist. I also only used 2 candy bars since I didn't want it to be overly sweet/crunchy. Will definitely make this again!!

    Those that have nut allergies many times have a peanut allergy too. This is not always the case, but err on the side of caution by putting the fact that in contains nuts in the notes section. The life you save may be that of a child whose parent did not now Butterfingers contains nuts. Don't mean to be preachy, but not everyone have common sense these days.

    Seriously. If you are looking for nut-free recipes, 99% of the time someone in your family has a peanut allergy. This recipe could kill them. Butterfingers are not nut-free. They are made with peanuts. Don't get into the semantics of peanuts versus nuts. Not with people's lives at stake.

    Very rich cake but delicious. We added a layer of shreded coconut below the cool whip and topped with a little toasted coconut. Adds a nice flavor.
