Original recipe makes 12

2/3 cupCocoa

3 cupsSugar

1/8 teaspoonSalt

1 1/2 cupsmilk

1/4 cupButter

1 teaspoonVanilla

1 cupPecans; Halved (optional)

Mix cocoa, sugar, salt and milk together in a large pot. Cook until candy thermometer reads softball stage (or you can use the drop

in a cold cup of water test). Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir until the shine goes away (this takes a little while).

If adding pecan halves, stir those in now. Pour into buttered pans to set up.
