Piquant Cranberry Sauce

Recipes »  Marinades and Sauces  »  Sauce

This is a simple, delicious cranberry sauce, perfect for turkey at Thanksgiving or Christmas. It's easy -- skip the store-bought sauce and make your own this year!

"First time I have ever made cranberry sauce- I have been used to that canned, tasteless stuff for years. I tried this recipe at Christmas and it was a big hit. I added juice of 1/2 lime to give a little pep, but it was not needed. I have made it twice now: the second batch I'll let thicken more to use as a jam." - Bones777

I tried making this recipe exactly as directed. It turned out very watery and not anything like the picture. Most cranberry sauces call for 1 cup of liquid for 12 oz. of cranberries. I am sure that the instruction for 3 cups of apple juice for 8 oz. of cranberries is incorrect.

The recipe does not specify what size bag of cranberries to use. We had an 8 oz bag and used it to make this recipe for Christmas dinner with both turkey and tofurkey. The sauce is excellent. Even my grumpy father-in-law who doesn't like cranberries ate a bowl of it. Thank you for sharing it.

Simple and tasty. I switched the cinnamon stick for a heaping Tbsp of ground cinnamon. This recipe will definitely be a Thankgiving regular.

I added walnuts and about 1/2 cubed apple and geletion so that it will hold the mold shape. I will always use this recipe from now on. Much better than the one with the orange I have used before.

Excellent. I made it with Splenda so the lowered sugar is a plus too.

Great recipe! Simple enough for a beginner (thanks!) and the taste is very different from canned sauce. Who knew? I'm making batches as Christmas presents.
