Ready in 45 minutes
A quick, basic guacamole recipe that can be added to or extended in many ways. Try adding a diced tomato or two.
"I doubled the recipe with the exception of the cilantro (I personally don't like cilantro that much) added another clove of garlic and used the juice of one large lime (almost 4 TBSP). This is an easy and awesome guacamole recipe. The addition of the cumin really did it for me, I make guacamole a lot and always felt as if it was missing something, now I know what that something was. Thanks! "- Nancyfantastic

Top-ranked recipe named "Basic Guacamole"
Halve and pit the avocados and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash the avocados coarse with a fork and stir in the onion, the garlic paste, the lime juice, the cumin, the chili, and the coriander. The guacamole may be made 2 hours in advance, its surface covered with plastic wrap, and chilled.
This can be made several hours ahead and refrigerated. The taste and texture are best, however, when freshly made.

mlbattani 2 years agoI used the 4 teaspoons of lime juice and it was way too much. I would try less next time.

megbyus 3 years agoMy husband says this is better than the restaurant. I omitted the cumin because I don't like the flavor. It was delicious!
Linny77_ 3 years agoThere would never be garlic or cumin in this recipe. You would just use white onion, lime juice ,diced seeded tomato, jalapino, celantro and salt.

FreshVegan 3 years agoThis recipe is a great base to get it right! Add chopped cilantro, tomatoes, extra jalapeño, sea salt.....
nancyjStephens 3 years agoIt seemed too salty to me. I added tomatoes and a little chopped celery just to use it up. It was good. Next timeI'll cut the salt down.
Snoone 3 years agoAdded a diced tomatoe, 2 more cloves of garlic, used fresh cilantro and instead of the chilie I used 4 or five drops of key lime Jamaican hot sauce and some ground pepper. Perfect!!
BadCobra 3 years agoSimple and excellent! If you or your guests do not care for cilantro be careful with the amount specified. Some salt may also be required, but personal preferences will prevail. As a twist one might also add 6-8 ounces of diced tomatoes. But excellent as-is, my son and I loved it with the jalapenos!
