"This was my first time making tortillas and they were quite easy. I used butter instead of shortening and they taste pretty good. I definitely needed a bigger workspace to roll them out on because they were a little thick. A tortilla press would be ideal, but a rolling pin will do."- moomasters

Mix flour and salt in a medium size mixing bowl. Add shortening and mix until there are no more chunks of shortening left. Mix in cold water a little at a time until you have a some what stiff dough. Pinch off dough about the size of a golf ball, roll out flat with a rolling pin and fry in dry skillet till it bubbles, turn and fry dry about 15 - 25 seconds.

Firebyrd 9 months agoMakes fantastic tortillas! I used less water than was called for per a friends' advice (and noticed a comment or two), and my trusty old tortilla press thatI inherited but never used. All in all, great recipe, thanks!
