This unusual salmon marinade makes for an exceptionally moist and delicious final product. Two guests remarked tonight that it's the best salmon they've ever had. You might not normally be tempted to try these ingredients together, but if you're looking for a change from ordinary grilled salmon... which is certainly delicious on its own... give this one a try and you may be pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend you use fresh, wild king salmon if you can get it.
jenluc ,We placed the marinated salmon on some Canadian cedar plank and cooked it on the bbq. The added smokiness went very well with the glaze!13y
medicfan ,Substituted vegetable oil with just a little margarine since the fish is already considered an oily fish. If a little too sweet, added a bit more balsalmic vinegar to give the marinade some zing. Also tried this marinade with Arctic char and it worked great for a shorter cook time13y
themilkmaid ,GREAT recipe! At my house, I do not prepare any foods with sugar, white flours, white rice, white taters, you get the gist. So when I made this, I substituted the 2T brown sugar for an equal amount of sugar-free pancake syrup and the 1T of honey for 2T of my homemade, sugar-free apple butter. Other than that, your recipe directions were followed precisely and the dish was a HUGE hit! thanks for sharing! :)13y
mommywalker ,I think I over cooked it because it was a little dry. No fault of the recipe - it was a total chef's error. :-) I also think I will use sesame oil the next time I make this instead of the veggie oil that the recipe calls for. All is all, a very good recipe.14y
heathersbigoven ,Next time I'll leave it marinade longer. The thin side tasted better than the thick half. Would love to have a type of sauce to drizzle over it. Any suggestions?14y
tranimal ,Way too sweet! It may have been my UK conversion but the sugar and honey could definitely have been toned down.14y
fayemin ,It's delicious! I used Tasmanian salmon and marinated it for 30 mins. It tastes similar to teriyaki but less salty.14y
melbourne12 ,I made this for the first time yesterday, and it was received with great enthusiasm. Definitely one for the favourites folder!14y
paulzear ,I use this all the time! I am the only fisheater in my house, so I cut up a pound, put the marinade and the fish in a ziplock bag for 30 minutes, then freeze it. Thaw and gas grill for 12 minutes. Moist!14y
bbolan10 ,This marinade is AMAZING! Ive gotten many compliments on this dish, goes great with wild rice and asparagas14y
flourishing1 ,I marinade it for an hour and baked it for 35 min at 350 degrees in a pan covered with foil. It was really good. I tried it with the low sodium soy sauce and had to add a little salt in the end. I will use the regular soy next time.14y
anastasia13 ,Hi from Greece! This is so great recipe! I have never had such a salmon like this!It is so quick to cook.I've got the one without skin and did the marinade before I go to bed.It was so tasty the next day when i cooked it!It didn't loose the flafour of the salmon altough it was in the marinade all night. I certainly gonna cook it again and again.Thank you!15y
scturner97 ,My kids loved this. It came out sweet and they begged me to make this again. I was in shock!15y
satornio ,The first time I tried this recipe I had to substitute red wine vinegar for the balsamic and Maple syrup for the honey. I am making it a second time and have the balsamic vinegar but really liked the maple taste.15y
abytxgrl ,Fantastic recipe. I would have to agree that this is perhaps the best Salmon I've ever tasted.15y
cleo199 ,I made a 1/2 recipe tonight for the two of us and baked it in the oven. We thought it might be a little salty because of the soy sauce, but it wasn't at all. Very delicious and moist. A recipe that I'll make over and over again. I marinated it for only an hour.15y
