Easy One Pan Beef Stroganoff Preparation

This is my homemade version of hamburger helper. It works like this:

Place the ground beef in a pan and while it is heating, chop the onion. Add the onion to the ground beef while you are browning it. Once it is browned, drain the fat, add the wine and turn down the heat to low. Place the 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and sour cream into a bowl and wisk together. Using 1 of the cans, add 2 cans of water to the pan, followed by the soup/sour cream mixture and stir together. Add the worcestershire sauce and salt/pepper to taste. Once this mixture is blended, sprinkle the noodles into the pan. I use a really large, deep skillet for this. To be honest, I have never measured the noodles before. The way I gauge it is that I add enough noodles so that they are barely "peeking" above the mixture. I am guessing that the amount is 3 cups, but it may be slightly more. Once you have the noodles pressed down into the sauce, cover the pan with a lid and simmer on med/lo heat for 15-20 minutes or until the noodles have cooked. I take the lid off and simmer it for a few minutes more to remove any excess liquid so that the sauce is creamy and not soupy. I always serve this with green beans simmered in onion as a side dish. My family always raves about it, and I love it because it's so easy and takes me 30 minutes from start to finish!

Made this for the first time...big hit with everyone. I substituted 1 can of beef broth for one of the cans of water. Had great flavor!!

I added a little extra wine and some hot sauce. It turned out great.

I found this tasteless. Would also work much better if pasta was cooked separately from meat sauce. Too starchy this way.

Easy to make. I threw in a can of mushrooms, it didn't need it, but it added a little to it.
