This is my family's favorite way to fix potatoes. My mom used to make with steaks and a salad. Delicious!

My family loved, but it was a bit too much grease for myself. Next time so I can control the grease I will do the bacon by itself for the first 15 min.

I just made it as a main dish and I want it as a side dish with a steak and shrimp.

Having grown up in Germany I have had this many times but we use speck instead of bacon. I fire the speck first - it makes the speck nice and crisp and reduces the amount of oil i have to add - before adding the onion and potatoes. Also I serve it as a main (sometimes topped with a fried egg.)

If i'm in a rush i par boil the potatoes in the microwave for 8-10 min. Just don't over cook them or they will fall apart when you tossed them.
