3 tblspoonsKetchup
3 tblspoonsVinegar
2 tblspoonsLemon juice
2 tblspoonsWorcestershire Sauce
2 tblspoonsWater
2 tblspoonsButter
3 tblspoonsBrown sugar
1 teaspoonMustard
1 teaspoonChili powder
1 teaspoonPaprika
1/2 teaspoonCayenne pepper
Salt; to taste

Mee Maw's Barbecue Chicken Sauce Preparation

Add all ingredients to a medium sauce pan placed over medium heat. Whisk ingredients together until butter has melted,forming a smooth sauce, remove from the heat. Reserve half the sauce and set aside.

Preheat oven to 500

Use chicken breasts, thighs and/or legs. Rinse and pat the chicken dry. Dip chicken into warm sauce and place into foil lined 8 X 13 cake pan. Pour any of the remaining dipping sauce over the chicken. Wrap the foil tightly around the chicken and bake 500 for 15 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 350 and continue baking for 1 hours.

Serve with rice. Reheat reserved sauce and serve on the side.

    Great flavor! Really flavors grilled chicken. I did reduce omit water and reduced sauce to half and then basted chicken while grilling. Will be a favorite BBQ sauce.

    we used this for chicken on the grill. very nice flavor, next time i might thicken a bit with cornstarch so it sticks a bit better while grilling. thanks mee maw. :)

    It sure looked like a small amount, however, when I divided the sauce, there was plenty left for heating and serving on the chicken. I will definately make this again.

    My grandmother's tried and true recipe. This sauce is excellent on oven baked chicken. I usually double the recipe so there is plenty leftover for dipping or saucing a rice accompaniment.
