Hubby knows it as American chop suey, but no matter the name you use, goulash is a favorite comfort food for all. Different every time I make it based on what fresh veggies I have on hand, the onion, ground meat, noodles and tomato sauce are the base staples that make this dish what it is. Love it!!

Very good. Will definitely make this dish again. Pssst... it was even better on day 2.

I've been making goulash as far back as I can remember, as a young girl with my mom! I continue making it for my family quite a bit during the autumn and cold winter months in michigan! I use petite tomatoes, minced garlic, oregano, canned mushrooms (drained), and tomato paste. Sometimes I will also use inexpensive off-brand spaghetti sauce if I feel like being lazy. Either way, a good recipe, it's quick, and easy! And the family always enjoys it!

Kids loved it! It was a little too bland for me. Next time I'm going to try oregano and diced tomatoes instead of crushed!

I made this today, for the 2nd time. (Last time was 7 months ago.) It turned out MUCH tastier because I changed several ingredients. I'm sharing my revised recipe here on BigOven (search for Ida's Depression Goulash).

Excellent... I hadn't made this in awhile. Was just looking for ideas & am very pleasantly surprised. My teenage daughter liked it too! Thks!

I liked this. Much like the goulash I grew up eating. Picky eaters were not happy (not saucy enough?!?), but I will make it again.

I use whole tomatoes instead of crushed and sometimes add corn. Delicious!

You need to add some pasta sauce and 1 can of Campbell's vegetable soup and a bit of sugar. Top with Parmesan cheese. Perrrfect

This is a favorite of our from childhood as well, but we added potatoes and tomato juice and made it more like a big pot of soup!

I have been making this for years but try adding frozen corn to it. It makes it taste good.:) and liquid smoke at the end.

It's not crushed tomatoes, it's diced :-)

Easy meal to put together, but a little bland for our taste.
