Place the chuck roasts in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the salad dressing and gravy mixes; stir in water. Pour over meat. Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or until tender. If desired, thicken cooking juices for gravy.
Remove meat to a warm platter, then strain and skim the fat from the cooking juices. Measure the juices and place in a saucepan. Combine 3 tablespoons flour and 1/3 cup cold water for each cup juices, then add to saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until the gravy is thickened.

sallyburkeboston 8 months agoWow, that was absolutely delish. And easy! I added 1/2 cup of red wine and I made it with a 10oz can of beef broth and a 10oz can of French onion soup (instead of water). I had 3 cups of liquid, which I heated with 1.5 tbsp of corn starch.

toddellenson 1 year agoOmg! So good! Added carrots, pearl onions, and potatoes, used beef broth instead of water and added half a cup of white wine, will probably use red next time!

wbmccarty 6 years agoThe nutritional database says that a package of brown gravy mix will provide 23g carbs for each of the 12 servings this recipe yields. The salad dressing mixes are likely to provide substantial additional carbs. Please, how is this recipe either Atkins friendly or low carb?
