3 tablespoonButter
4 Sausages; fully cooked
1 mediumOnion; sliced
1 mediumApple; (tart: ex: Granny Smith), peeled, cored, sliced
1 cupApple cider or apple juice
2 tablespoonFresh sage; chopped
2 tablespoonLemon juice; fresh

Pan-Grilled Sausages With Apples and Onions Preparation

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in large skillet over medium heat. Add sausages and cook until beginning to brown, turning occasionally, about 5 minutes.

Add onion and apple to sausages in pan; cook until tender and brown, stirring often, about 5 minutes.

Add apple cider and chopped sage; increase heat to high and stir until liquid is slightly reduced, about 2 minutes.

Stir in lemon juice. Season to tasted with salt and pepper.

Using slotted spoon, transfer onion and apple to 2 plates, dividing equally. Top with sausages. Whisk remaining 2 tablespoons butter into cider mixture.

Season sauce to taste with salt and pepper. Drizzle over sausages and serve.

Very easy to make, will leave out the 2 tablespoons of butter next time, it took the taste away from the sausages.

I had this tonight 1-18-10. I wasnt as thrilled as I had hoped. I would make it again though. Was something different. I think next time I will leave out the sage.

I left the sage out & accidently put apple cider 'vinegar' instead of juice... I just added some palm sugar & a little mild Indian curry powder, my dinner guests loved it! I'll be doing this one again, nice & easy.

I made this cause I thought the kids would like it. No such luck, my husband really didn't enjoy it either. I on the other hand thought it was divine. So I will make again, but only for myself. Sage is not kid friendly!
