Simple Hamburger Casserole

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Casseroles

I made this on Jan 22, 2006 for Michelle. She gave this two thumbs up (that's like 5 stars). So we'll be having this again. And it really does go together fairly quickly

"Just made this again last night & used frozen meatballs that i cooked in a 9x13 baking dish for 15 min @ 350. Then dumped in 3 big handfuls of fresh green beans & zucchini, chopped. I then poured the sauce over & topped with the tots. Baked @ 400 for 30 min or so & topped with cheese & served! It was excellent & all ingredients were 2 year old approved!! I love that you can sub in what is on hand, so easy to prepare, only takes a few minutes & it's in the oven!! " - tripletmama

It took longer than I expected and it tasted ok but not fabulous and it makes a lot-too much for our family of four.

Very delicious. Probably won't put green beans in next time, I'm a bit of a traditionalist and prefer them as a side dish.

This was the most delicious tater tot casserole recipe I've ever made. I used mixed veggies instead of just green beans 'cause that's what I'm used to. Yummy!

I will need to make more adjustments. Left out the onion soup mix which possibly made it runny and the tots did not seem to cook enough. Next time around I plan on doing a layer of ground beef, american cheese, cooked bacon, possibly spinach, then the tots and shreaded cheese. Will still use the foil but cook it at 350-375 possibly a bit shorter time in the oven.

What's not to like!? Admittedly, I left out the mushrooms for my fussy son (21), but he and my husband loved it! I loved it! It was quick, easy and an all-in-one meal. Perfect for a week night when you haven't got a lot of time to cook. The 1 1/2 hours cooking time was a bit over kill, I cooked it in my Aga in 40 minutes.

Just barely edible and that was only after a ten hour workday without a lunch break. My four year old would not touch it with a ten foot pole.
