"Traditional British biscuits, digestives can also be served buttered or with cheese. For a sweeter biscuit, brush one side with melted semisweet chocolate after baking."
"Pretty good copy. Next time I will use one less tbsp brown sugar and one more tbsp butter. It's difficult to roll out the dough evenly thin enough but the results were yummy anyway."-

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Mix in the oatmeal. Cream together the butter and the sugar and add to mixture. Stir in the milk until mixture forms a thick paste.
3. Knead dough on a floured surface until smooth. Roll out dough to approximately 1/8" thickness. Cut into rounds with cookie cutter about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Transfer to cookie sheets and prick with a fork.
4. Bake 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden. Let cool on wire rack. Store in an airtight tin.

cherrymenzies-runciman 2 years agoTweaked this recipe to replace sugar with agave nectar or other low GI sweetener so it fits for diabetics - absolutely scrummy
lgrantham 2 years agoThese are HORRIBLE !!! They taste NOTHING like McVites. A chocolate digestive is one of the worlds greatest cookies and you have shamefully claimed your recipe as 'Close To...' when in fact it is not even in the same kitchen !!!!!! Take off the apron and step out of the kitchen !!! (The only way I could post this was to chose a star rating...therefore I chose the lowest. I would have picked a negative star if one was available)
EcoMomma 3 years agoYou have not given a quantity for the butter you mention.
scipionasica 4 years agoYou have - quite obviously - never tried this recipe. I have made exactly - EXACTLY - your recipe and it is a disaster. Either you have never seen the inside of a kitchen before i your life or you are a blissful liar - this is totally crap and wasteful of ingredients. Shame.
