This recipe has been pasted down from My Great Uncle. Many gererations have enjoyed it. I hope you do also

Combine all ingredients. Mix well. Form into 1" balls. Brown in oil and set aside in large casserole dish.
Wisk flour into browning oil. Cook until smooth. Add all remaining ingredients. Wisk until thickened. Combine with meatballs in casserole and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Serve over buttered noodles.

spaige 2 months agoWhen I'm successful in making a meal my whole family likes, it makes the effort worth it. The meatballs in this are excellent & the gravy is just as good. I did use cornstarch to thicken the gravy, worked great! We've got leftovers so, tonight we're having it again w/rice. Thank you for sharing your family recipe.
JesseyR 3 months agoThis was very good but to future cooks....use cornstarch to thicken your gravy NOT flour!! I stupidly (I say stupidly because I know better) followed the instructions and used flour and that flavor is hard to cook off and we ended up using jar gravy :/ other that that mishap it was good and I will be making again minus the flour!
Houdai 3 months agoI took my nephew on a shopping trip to Ikea. He fell in love with Swedish meatballs. He had begged me and begged me to go back, so I decided we would make some ourselves. This is a great recipe. Instead of putting into a casserole I put it in the crock pot. I was a huge hit! And my nephew and I had fun cooking together.

rynney 1 year agoThis was a fun recipe to try - great reviews! A bit time consuming with making the meatballs but worth it. I used a meatloaf meat mix & added just a dash of cayenne but it was deliciously perfect!
codegirl 1 year agoI used wild venison instead of beef. And ran out of time to form meatballs so added some milk and baked meatloaf instead. Served with cranberry sauce. Turned out so tasty! Perfect spice, don't change a thing.

Astancilwomack 1 year agoYumm!! Seriously delish! I was a little leery. I tasted the gravy before baking and it was bland, but with the meatballs... So good! I used Kirkland meatballs rather than making my own and it was still yummy! I'll try the meatballs next time when I'm not in a hurry.

Kristengamez 2 years agoThis was a very good meal. My son wanted Swedish meatballs for his birthday dinner. He and the rest of loved it. Will def make this again soon. I added garlic to the meatballs and mushrooms to the gravy. That was the only difference I did

kicaza 2 years agoMade this last night. Easy to make, took about an hour to put together and get in the oven. My husband said it was one of the best meals I've ever made (I've been cooking for him for 15 years!). Will definitely make again. I thought the gravy was a little runny and mentioned I thought I'd thicken it with a touch of cornstarch next time -- my husband said PLEASE DON'T, IT'S PERFECT THE WAY IT IS! Should also mention I made a second vegetarian batch for myself - used Boca hamburger patties (defrosted, mixed by hand with the other ingredients scaled down from 3 pounds of meat), used vegetable broth for the gravy. It was also declicious. Thanks Uncle Ocscar!
