Preheat oven to 350
Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until crumbly.
Combine egg and milk, and then stir into mixture.
Knead briefly, then roll to a -inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for 10 to12 minutes.
