Southern Baked Beans

Recipes »  Side Dish  »  Beans and Peas

Perfectly seasoned for that summer barbeque or whenever you want to eat them! Very quick and easy to make!

"Very good version of a true classic. I was going to post mine, but this one is so close I decided not to bother:)

When I smoke spare ribs, I trim them St. Louis style (removing the brisket strip) but smoke the strip by itself. Then I chop/shred the strip up and use it in this bean dish INSTEAD of the bacon (way too meaty with both...I tried it once). To die for!"

1 poundCampbell's Baked Beans
1/4 cupOnion; chopped
1/2 cupBrown sugar; firmly packed
1/4 cupKetchup
2 teaspoonMustard
2 teaspoonWorcestershire Sauce
8 slicesBacon; cooked crisp & crumbled

Southern Baked Beans Preparation

The easiest bacon is the already cooked by Oscar Meyer, Hormel or Tyson. Basically, it's priced the same. Just pop it into the microwave for a couple of minutes and voila! no mess to clean! Crumble it, pull it apart to make small pieces.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.

Pour into a medium sized casserole dish. Bake at 350 until bubbly, about 40 minutes or less.

We LOVE these. I use a little extra mustard and add some polish sausage. Delish!

If made as stated it is too sweet. I recommend using 2 cans of beans for this recipe

This was very good and I didn't even use the bacon. A nice and easy way to spruce up store-bought beans. We will definitely use this recipe again!

Loved the beans! I sautéed the onion with bell pepper and it was delicious. Took the beans to a cookout and everyone loved them.

Chopped up and added leftover hamburger meat and smokey hotdogs from the night before. Subsititued 2 cans of pork and beans in malasses rather than the Cambells baked beans. My youngest son hates beans but said if he had to eat beans, this is the dish he would eat.
