Penne Pasta with Lemon Sauce

Recipes »  Side Dish  »  Side Dish - Other

I had a similar dish recently at a German restaurant in Dresden. This is my version of that dish. It's creamy with a great light lemon flavor and is excellent topped with grilled salmon.

"we added diced sauteed chicken breast and mushrooms, and left out the zest. It wasn't very lemony due to the zest not being added, but it was still absolutely delicious and we'd make it the same way again next time. a simple creamy penne dish that tasted great.
I advise you eat as much as you can the first night though it doesn't make good left overs, the sauce turns into an oil when you heat it up again and loses it's cream." - meltxlx

I like lemon, this was not very lemony, more like a butter sauce. Might be better on spaetzle.

Hanan@home, you've done it again with a phenomenal, simple recipe. I served this with lemon-lime grilled chicken. Sauteed mushrooms in the large saute pan beforehand, deglazed with stock (I substituted Chicken stock, as my wife doesn't eat red meat), then added the cream, butter, etc. and proceeded from there. Paired with haricot verts. Superb accompaniment to a springtime meal.

Very tasty and super easy comfort food. I used our own chicken stock in place of the beef broth. The dish made an excellent side for Brined Roast Chicken.

My son and husband loved this. I enjoyed it too. I made it with chicken picatta and asparagus. Next time I may try jazzing it up with a few more spices but it was a great sauce as is.

Delicious. Very fresh and light. I paired it with steamed broccoli and pork schnitzel. A fantastic meal.

I just used 3 T lemon juice and 1 T lime juice and it was delicious. I also shorted the pasta by two minutes in the water and then finished it off in the sauce so it absorbed some of the yumminess. Tasty and a nice compliment to a citrus marinated grilled salmon.

I found the sauce to be a little bland so I added garlic. However the sauce was extremely to thin. If there was a thickening agent you used please post it.

Could have used a thickening agent of sorts. Otherwise , tasty and refreshing on a hot summers day.

LOVED THIS! My husband made it and he added Parmesan cheese to the sauce! It was such a big hit, even with our one-year-old! Goes great with baked asparagus.

Love this sauce! It is a little thin but i usually saute and add 1/2 onion, 1 sliced bell pepper, fresh spinach and mushrooms. It makes a very hearty meal and looks beautiful with the colors of the bell pepper and spinach. I also add fresh Parmesan cheese either on top or mix it in right before serving. Sometimes I will grill chicken and put it in also. Very yummy!

I gave it a 2 because I had to add a ton of stuff to it. But as a base recipe it is great for adding various things. This time I added: Green onion, thickened it w/flour, lots of garlic, and spices. I also added peas.

This sauce was very tasty, but was too thin.
