I had a similar dish recently at a German restaurant in Dresden. This is my version of that dish. It's creamy with a great light lemon flavor and is excellent topped with grilled salmon.
"we added diced sauteed chicken breast and mushrooms, and left out the zest. It wasn't very lemony due to the zest not being added, but it was still absolutely delicious and we'd make it the same way again next time. a simple creamy penne dish that tasted great.
I advise you eat as much as you can the first night though it doesn't make good left overs, the sauce turns into an oil when you heat it up again and loses it's cream."

In an extra large skillet, combine the butter, cream and broth. Simmer over medium heat until reduced by about half. Add the lemon juice, lemon and lime zest and set aside.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente; drain.
Toss pasta with sauce and serve. Top with large chunks of grilled salmon or chicken.

gatun 2 months agoVery easy to make, although I really wasn't sure when the sauce had reduced enough. My family members loved it. I added cooked chicken breast cut into small pieces. This would be fantastic with some fresh vegetables, like artichokes or mushrooms, added in.

keri_enfield 3 months agoSautéed mushrooms before adding rest of ingredients. Also used chicken broth.
Rocozz 7 months agoI like lemon, this was not very lemony, more like a butter sauce. Might be better on spaetzle.
stevemur 7 months agoHanan@home, you've done it again with a phenomenal, simple recipe. I served this with lemon-lime grilled chicken. Sauteed mushrooms in the large saute pan beforehand, deglazed with stock (I substituted Chicken stock, as my wife doesn't eat red meat), then added the cream, butter, etc. and proceeded from there. Paired with haricot verts. Superb accompaniment to a springtime meal.

Skeeter77 9 months agoVery tasty and super easy comfort food. I used our own chicken stock in place of the beef broth. The dish made an excellent side for Brined Roast Chicken.

nicolegory 11 month agoMy son and husband loved this. I enjoyed it too. I made it with chicken picatta and asparagus. Next time I may try jazzing it up with a few more spices but it was a great sauce as is.

futuremrsdarling 1 year agoDelicious. Very fresh and light. I paired it with steamed broccoli and pork schnitzel. A fantastic meal.
Hilpol 1 year agoI just used 3 T lemon juice and 1 T lime juice and it was delicious. I also shorted the pasta by two minutes in the water and then finished it off in the sauce so it absorbed some of the yumminess. Tasty and a nice compliment to a citrus marinated grilled salmon.
tiffatccbc 1 year agoI found the sauce to be a little bland so I added garlic. However the sauce was extremely to thin. If there was a thickening agent you used please post it.

zzanderson 1 year agoLOVED THIS! My husband made it and he added Parmesan cheese to the sauce! It was such a big hit, even with our one-year-old! Goes great with baked asparagus.
