Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles

Ready in 45 minutes

These are just great cookies... they are best warm, right out of the oven.

"We really enjoyed these tasty biscuits. I had planned to freeze some for later but there wasn't enough left! My only adjustment was to replace the baking soda and cream of tartar with 3 teaspoons of baking powder (equivalent). They were nicely crunchy on the outside but still just a little soft on the inside - perfect. Thanks for sharing the recipe. "

Ingredients

Are you making this?
2 tablespoons Sugar
2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine; stick, softened
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 large Eggs
2 3/4 cups All-purpose flour
2 teaspoons Cream of tartar
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1/4 teaspoon Salt

Original recipe makes 3.5

Dozen

Preparation

Stir together 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon, and set aside.

Beat margarine and 1 1/2 cups sugar at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; add eggs, one at a time, beating just until blended after each addition. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; gradually add to margarine mixture, beating until blended. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

Notes

I use butter instead of margarine in these.

First time making and they were yummy. Instead of cream if tartar and baking soda, I used the equivalent baking powder recipe as suggested and they came out perfect. Unfortunately didn't make enough as they done within a day.

My husband reviewed this the best. He believes this snicker doodle recipe is what unicorn meat would probably taste like.

Rave reviews from all who tried one. I did modify slightly. Added a teaspoon of sour cream. And cooked for 15 min.
