Memere's Mashed Potatoes

Memere's Mashed Potatoes

Ready in 1 hour

Memere makes the best mashed potatoes. These are them.

"When I started cooking many years ago, I ruined some mashed potatoes by trying to make them in a stand mixer- the result was gluey and gross. I guess a hand mixer is the way to go, because I've made these twice and they're fluffy and delicious. The last time, I used 3 large russet potatoes, 2 tbs butter, and 3/4 cup of milk- perfect for a quick weeknight side dish. When I made them for the holidays I used a lot more butter."

Great recipe..i switched it up a bit and and a little onion powder for flavor but the initial concept was very helpful since it was my first time.

This has always been the recipe used in our house. You don't need measurements for every recipe. How ever many potatoes you use, then the rest of ingredients are to taste. Add a little & taste until you get what you want.

I just finished making these for Thanksgiving tomorrow, and I think I'm going to need to make another batch. These mashed potatoes are AMAZING!!!! I made 5 lbs of potatoes and used 2 sticks of butter. I also used gourmet sea salt instead of regular salt. Yuuuummmmyyyy!!!
