Italian Sausage Sub Sandwich
|6 eachItalian Sausages; Sweet, Mild, or Hot as you prefer|
|2 tablespoonolive oil|
|1/2 eachGreen bell pepper; cut into strips|
|1/2 eachRed bell pepper; cut into strips|
|1/2 cupOnion; cut into strips|
|12 ouncePizza sauce; BigOven Recipe 161218|
|1 1/2 cupMozzarella cheese; shredded or six slices|
|6 eachSour Dough Rolls; 8 inch|
Italian Sausage Sub Sandwich Preparation
Preheat oven to 350.
Cut rolls lengthwise but not all the way through. Pour olive oil into skillet. Cook sausage over medium heat for 10-12 minutes or until done. Remove from heat. Add peppers and onions. Sautee until soft, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Open rolls and spread 1/6 of sauce mixture into bottom of each. Sprinkle 2 ounces of cheese or place one slice over sauce. Add vegetables and sausage. Wrap in aluminum foil.
Bake for 8 minutes to 10 minutes.
Note: Turkey Italian sausage may be substituted if you prefer
