Cherry Dump Cake

Recipes »  Desserts  »  Cakes

I used to make this often when we were camping. It is quick, easy and tasty pretty good too. Can't ask for better than that.

"With this recipe, the trick is, you must cut the cube of butter into very thin slices, and put over the cake almost like a layer over the top, so the crust will cook thouroughly. I have had friends who made this recipes not cover the top evenly and there are parts that never cook. Everyone loves this." - trishcancook

Used jars of cherries instead of pie filling. Tasted great!

Easy and fun to experiment with different fillings. Tried apple which was very good. Cake mix does not combine during baking so I used butter spray to 'coat' the top. Also added the butter pats. That seemed to seal in the flavor better.
