| 3/4 cupShortening; (soft: Crisco or Smart Balance) |
| 1 cupBrown sugar; (packed) |
| 1 Egg |
| 1/4 cupMolasses; (light mild) |
| 2 1/4 cupFlour |
| 2 teaspoonBaking soda |
| 1/4 teaspoonSalt |
| 1/2 teaspoonCloves; (ground) |
| 1 teaspoonCinnamon |
| 1 teaspoonGinger |
Molasses Cookies (Grandma Jean's) Preparation
- Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses together.
- Add dry ingredients.
- Chill.
- Make dough into balls and dip in sugar and put on greased cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle with 2-3 drops of water.
- Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes.
