Baked Macaroni and Cheese

This is a really good recipe for macaroni and cheese and it's great to reheat and eat again later. Comfort food!

"My husband loved it! Added bacon, which was amazing!! I would recommend using 2% milk (I used skim milk and it did not get as thick). I will for sure make it again and experiment with different cheeses!" - PKTSe7en

Servings
Original recipe makes 12 Servings
1 7-oz packageSmall elbow macaroni; cooked (al dente) and drained
2 tablespoonsMargarine
2 tablespoonsFlour
1 teaspoonDry mustard
1 teaspoonSalt
2 1/2 cupsmilk
2 cupsCheddar cheese; shredded

Baked Macaroni and Cheese Preparation

Preheat oven to 375 and spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with non-stick cooking spray. In a medium saucepan, melt margarine, stir in flour, mustard and salt and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually stir in the milk and cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens slightly (it should coat the spoon). Remove the milk mixture from the heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups cheese and stir until the cheese is melted. Stir in the drained macaroni and then turn into the baking dish. Top with the remaining cheese and bake 20-25 minutes or until bubbly.

I made this for youth group and trippled the recipe. It turned out soupy. I was so embarrassed. I know I calculated the measurements correctly when I tripled it. What went wrong?

It was good but not my favorite. My kids didn't care for it but my husband and I liked it. Probably wont make it again or next time I'll tweak it a little.

Nevertheless made this dish before....always made it from a box. It turned out very good! I forgot the mustard but it was still good...my kids liked it better than the box stuff!

Good recipe. Will definitely bake with different types of cheeses next time.

Very good! I used non fat milk and non fat Mozzarella cheese so it probably didn't come out exactly as described but I was very happy with results.

So far so good...we'll eat it tomorrow with Thanksgiving dinner. Only question is...dry mustard is listed in the list of ingredients but there isn't a step telling when to add it???

This recipe was delicious! The only thing I changed was I used regular mustard instead of dry mustard and I added some pepper.

It was very nice but don't know if it was how I cooked it but it was more like a pasta bake than mac and cheese, think it was the eggs. It was still very nice though and I will be making it again

This recipe was very simple and very good. Next time I'm going to experiment with other types of cheese. It made the house smell very good.
