Old Fashioned Pot Roast In A Crock Pot

Recipes »  Main Dish  »  Slow Cooker

Delicious! Prepare it the day before you cook it and refrigerate overnight for an easy meal on a busy day.

"A crock pot winner! Exactly what a crock pot recipe should be -- stick all the ingredients in at the same time, minimal fuss with seasonings, and come home after work to a fragrant house and a delicious supper! The only change I made was to add a couple parsnips, cut into thirds, and a rutabaga, cut into eighths. The roast was fork tender and absolutely delicious, the vegetables were most flavorful. Simply, great comfort food." - sgrishka

Old Fashioned Pot Roast In A Crock Pot Preparation

Arrange vegetables in the bottom of the crock pot and top them with the roast. Add the water. Pour Kitchen Bouquet on top of the meat to coat it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining spices on top of the meat. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours. Leftovers make excellent stew, soup, or roast beef sandwiches.

Notes

The leftover roast makes good sandwiches, soup, or stew.

Very good, but I would suggest putting the veggies in during the last hour or two. Definitely a keeper!

I'm making this tomorrow and am confused about the water measurement lol (not much of a cooker) so I don't know...haha I would think there would be more water? 7/32 seems like a tiny amount! Help!

This was the blandest roast I've ever had. The flavors were not pleasant. Made me question if I even like roasts, but then had a very good one at a holiday get together. Would not recommend this recipe.

EXCELLENT!!!!! I added a can of Hunt's diced tomatoes as well. There wasn't enough to make stew. It lasted 2 meals!!

It's really good if you add some horseradish. The leftovers made a great soup.

Great recipe but should add later of horseradish to top of meat after browning/searing.

Yum, altered a bit by cutting veggies up, used a whole package of Lipton and onions. The left-overs became stew by making gravy from the juices. My hubby wouldn't let me freeze it for another meal, tomorrow's lunch apparently.
