Savory Pita Chips

Recipes »  Bread  »  Flat Bread

Tasty all by themselves, and even better dipped into homemade hummus! So much better than store-bought, and so easy and quick to make, that you'll never buy commercial pita chips again!

"this is soooo good. You could really use any seasoning you like. I did not like the oregano in their mix. The "problem" is that you **want** to eat them immediately. Use a good quality olive oil - it'll make a difference" - adacooks

Servings
Original recipe makes 4 Servings
1 teaspoonGarlic powder
1 teaspoonGarlic granules
2 teaspoonsOnion powder
2 teaspoonsOregano
1 teaspoonPaprika
1/2 teaspoonBlack Pepper; freshly ground
1/2 teaspoonSalt
2 tablespoonsolive oil
6 6-inchPita breads

Savory Pita Chips Preparation

Preheat oven to 400F.

Mix the garlic powder, garlic granules, onion powder, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper in a small container (there will be some left over, so a spice jar makes a good container).

One at a time, brush the pita breads with olive oil, cut into 8 wedges (same pattern as cutting a pie or a pizza).

Arrange the pita wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet, and sprinkle with the seasoning mix.

Bake in a 400F oven for 10 minutes.

Notes

Easy enough to make as a snack for yourself, and pretty enough to bring to a potluck! These are best just out of the oven (when they're still a little chewy), but they travel well too.

Yummy! I dipped them into Guacamole and Pico de Gallo - divine! Left out the onion powder as I didn't have any, but it worked just as well.
