This cookies are absolutely delicious and with no chilling time necessary, they can be made quickly. This is now my favorite sugar cookie!
"I just made these with my 4 year old son. We had such a great time. This recipe is basic enough to where I could keep him involved the whole time. We used baking powder, not baking soda, since the original recipe called for it (but the instructions say soda).
I think the cookies are a wee on the dry side, but they're still good. We are going to make frosting next!"

Preheat oven to 400. In a large mixer bowl, cream butter and sugar until well combined. Beat in vanilla and egg.
Sift flour and baking soda together. Add to creamed mixture, one cup at a time, mixing after each addition.
Dough will be very stiff.
DO NOT CHILL DOUGH!
Divide dough in half. On floured surface, roll dough about to 1/8 thick. Dip cutters in flour before each use. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet on top rack of oven for 6-7 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Makes 2-3 dozen cookies.

sugarnospice 2 months agoThis is a great recipe when you follow the directions exactly!! The cookies are delicious, they're crunchy there quick, hold the shape of the cookie cutters. I do have favorite recipes that you refrigerate the dough, but this one is by far the best one when you don't have time to chill it.

Micochsl 5 months agoStarted to make but confused. Recipe calls for 2 teaspoons baking powder, but directions call for baking soda. Which one is correct?
kayla_jackson0812 7 months agoSubstituted syrup for vanilla and added a little more sugar and butter (baking at 3am and didn't have any vanilla) turned out very good.

Overyonder 1 year agoI just made these according to the recipe. I baked them at 185c and they turned out great. I used baking powder and I warmed my butter in the microwave before beating it.
CherishMaeKerr 1 year agoGreat cookies I love that you don't have to wait for them to chill. I don't have much time to wait for things so it's great. I did use the baking powder and kept them thick. Just wish there was an easy icing recipe on here
