This is based on a recipe from the Hershey's Cocoa box and it's a great chocolate cake recipe! This is "health food" because cocoa contains antioxidants! :)
"This recipe was so simple and completely delicious! What a moist and fluffy cake. My hubby and I couldn't help ourselves when it was all done. You couldn't taste the coffee, just rich chocolate. The batter was very thin and I was skeptical, but it baked perfectly. I used a different frosting however. This will be my go to chocolate cake recipe from now on.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray two 9 inch round baking pans with non stick cooking spray. Combine first 6 dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in the hot coffee and mix well with a spoon (batter will be thin). Pour batter into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes and then remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely before frosting.
Melt the butter and stir in the cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating on medium speed to spreading consistancy. Add more milk, if needed. Stir in vanilla.

mogriff1 1 weeks agoThis is a really good cake! It sort of reminds me of Wegman's Ultimate Chocolate cake. I didnt have coffee since we dont drink it so instead I made a cup of hot chocolate using milk. For the frosting I used the whole box of confectioners sugar instead of 3 cups because it was a little too thin for my liking. This is a great recipe and I know I'll make this cake again.

TonyaMiller808 1 month agoI love this cake because it is an oil cake. I can pull it together and have it in the oven in less than ten minutes. I add a tablespoon each of espresso powder and Saigon cinnamon. I frost it with an Italian meringue chocolate butter cream. Sometimes I fill it with pastry cream.
ladylail 1 month agoMy go-to chocolate cake! I use this when making Black Forest cupcakes with Amaretto frosting. Holds up to the rich frosting and pairs great with tart cherry filling. Love this cake!

anniek36 6 months agoThis Is The only Recipe chocolate cake recipe I use!!! It turns out so moist and Delicious!! I made this a few weeks ago and i was short on white sugar substituted half brown sugar and it turned out Fabulous!!!
