Olive Garden Salad and Dressing

Recipes »  Salad  »  Green Salads

This green salad with its dressing is wonderfully authentic in taste to the salad served at the "Olive Garden" restaurants. The dressing recipe makes enough dressing to cover a large bowl of salad. I only use two thirds of the dressing, but use more according to your taste. I like to use homemade extra large croutons in this recipe.

"I made this for a New Years Eve gathering with family and friends. They loved it, I loved it. The dressing isn't exactly like Olive Gardens, but it's still good and better the next day. (I had all the ingredients except for the corn syrup. I didn't want to go to the store so I just left it out and added a tad more sugar.) I've made another bash of the dressing just to have for other salads. The salad itself is close enough to Olive Garden's that I won't be spending much money there anymore. " - donaliz

Olive Garden Salad and Dressing Preparation

For the dressing:

Mix the first eleven ingredients in a blender until well mixed. If this is a little to tart for your own personal taste, add 1 Tablespoon of sugar.

For the salad:

Pour 1/2 package of the salad blend into a large salad bowl. Top with 1/2 of the onion, olives, banana peppers, croutons and tomatoes. Add dressing to taste and toss well. Add the other 1/2 bag of salad and more dressing to taste. Toss well. Top the salad with the remaining onion, olives, banana peppers, croutons and tomatoes.

Pass the grated parmesan cheese and black pepper mill at the table.

Love Olive Garden's salad

I added the sugar...fantastic. I didn't use quite as much salad as the recipe calls for so we had a bit of dressing at the bottom of the bowl. It was pasta night and we had leftovers. So, my husband threw in the leftover dressing with the pasta....FANTASTIC cold pasta salad for a late night snack!!!!

This is NOT the Olive Garden dressing--but it's a good dressing. It's thin but tasty.

I only made the sauce, not the salad. Guests really liked it! I kind of tweaked it based on my taste but I always do that. Will definitely make again some time.

Didn't Taste anything like Olive Garden salad dressing

Close. First I would like to say that peperoncini and banana peppers are not the same thing. Use peperoncini. Second Olive Garden does not grate parmesan cheese they grate pecorino romano cheese. It is an iceburg romane salad mix. And last but not least you are able to puchase the Olive Garden salad dressing in a nice 11oz. glass vessel. Close on the dressing tangy and tasty. Kudos.

I used this recipe, with a few tweaks to the salad portion, at a family get together of 24 people. I was concerned because of the mixed reviews I'd read. We had 16 teens and younger at the gathering and they all LOVED the dressing. Whether it tastes like Olive Gardens or not, it made passing grades overall!
