I have followed dozens of recipes for this dish and have combined the things I like from some and left out some stuff from others to perfect this dish.
"I love Stroganoff, and this recipe was good. Easy to make with ingreadients I had in the house. Except I was short on the amount of sour cream I had in the fridge. My sauce was looking pretty thick, (plus I had more than a pound of meat), so I added about 1/2 can mushroom soup and a few table spoons of milk to get to the right consistancy. Then I always add a couple splashes of white wine to my stroanoff. Thank you. It pleased my whole family."- rjhalvor

Fry bacon and move to paper towel.
Dredge meat in flour (fry in bacon grease to brown). Saute onion for 2 minutes, add garlic and saute 1 more minute. Add water, bring to boil. add builion cube, worcestershire sauce, nutmeg, pepper & seasoned salt.

mogriff1 2 weeks agoWe really enjoyed this dish. I omitted the bacon and mushrooms. I used ground turkey and beef stock. I also substituted half the sour cream with greek yogurt. And used whole grain egg noodles. Very quick, easy and tasty dish.
dakotarussell 1 month agoThis was a decent dish. I felt like the sour cream really overpowered the other flavors, though. Not bad at all, just kind of one-note for my tastes.

m994836 2 months agoLove it! Very delicious and easy in a Le Creuset 8qt Dutch oven. I threw in a cup of old vine Zinfandel (from my wine glass) but otherwise followed it exactly. Thanks for posting!

heatherschackniesteske 6 months agoThis has become THEE Stroganoff dinner at my house. I'm a newlywed and this is my husbands favorite meal. I tried several different recipes for stroganoff but they didn't pan out. this one is wonderful, easy to do and actually tops his mother's recipe for it :-) I don't put mushrooms....
mogriff1 6 months agoHubby really likes when I make this dish. It really is tasty. I make a few changes though...I use beef stock, ground turkey, use 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 the nutmeg & I omit the bacon and mushrooms. I also added a little cornstarch in the end to thicken.

Lilyblossom25 8 months agoThis is just a slightly different, more involved version of what my husband and I already cook. Going to try it tonight and see what he says! :)
tlbarker72 8 months agoThis stroganoff is absolutely delicious!! I left out the nutmeg (because I'm not fond of it in savory dishes), and the bacon, since I didn't have any. Instead of water I used beef stock. Otherwise I made it exactly as written. I have tried several stroganoff recipes, and I have finally found a definite keeper. Thanks for a great recipe!
harrietgriffin 8 months agoWas super yummy! Need a good non-stick pan though for the steak :p Everyone very much enjoyed it, added more bacon and mushrooms. Steak is nice as something diff but can do without too

B00tles 9 months agoThis was delicious! I doubled the onion & mushrooms and topped with parsley, after reading the reviews and found it to be quite flavorful. I hadn't budgeted my time well, so it was a surprise to find that it took 1.5-2hrs of simmering before tender enough to eat, but I will make this again.
B00ts 10 months agoGreat recipe I only added 1/2 cup of red wine. Fantastic.
