Reviews for Glazed Lemon Bread
Recipes » Bread » Fruit Bread
Very lemony, very tasty and very easy to make. My mother once won a contest with her Glazed Lemon Bread recipe. It's a wonderfully moist bread, saturated with lemony flavor, that's great for breakfast, as a dessert or just as a snack. I prefer my mother's recipe over other lemon bread recipes because the glaze is allowed to saturate the bread all the way through...also, heating the glaze to melt the sugar helps it go on smoothly, unlike the usual method which is "grainy" from unmelted sugar.

Very easy and very delicious. Like most others I used 1 tsp of baking powder not 1tbsp. It was a hit with those I shared it with. I will make this again.

I made this without reading older reviews about reducing the baking powder and it came out great for me, also used 1/2 cup Splenda/sugar baking blend and it tastes great! The glaze is sweet and tart but refreshing!
tart but

I've tried a similar recipe from Food Network. I can guess that some of your nuances (vanilla, multiple glazings) will make a good recipe great! Can't wait to try it.

I really liked it, great lemon taste, easy to make. Based on previous reviews, I left out glaze and I'm kind of sad I did. I will surely make it again with the glaze this time.

YUMMY! i see how your mom won a contest with this receipe! It won in my kitchen. Within 1 day it was all gone ?. I as well added a handful of poppy seeds, did not glaze the bread as it was sweet enough without it. Thank you for sharing ?

Since everyone seemed to have such an issue with tart glaze I tweaked it a bit. I used half a cup of powdered sugar, juice of half a lemon, half a Tbs of milk and half a tsp of vanilla extract. Hope that helps

This was delicious and so easy to make! Like other reviewers, I decided not to do the glaze and it turned out fantastic without it.

I just made this and it is delicious! I wouldn't change anything except to add some poppy seeds next time.
My answer to PreemieCooker911 about the butter, I melted the butter. That way it was easy to mix with the flour mixture.
