1/4 cup Corn syrup; pLUS 2 Teaspoons of corn syrup
1 cup Butter; pLUS 3 TBSP BUTTER
2 1/3 cups Brown sugar; packed, pLUS 1 TBSP brown sugar
2 1/2 pounds French bread; sliced
12 Eggs
3 2/3 cups milk
2 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon Salt

Original recipe makes 12



1. Combine the corn syrup, butter, and brown sugar in a small saucepan and simmer until the sugar has melted. Pour this mixture over the bottom of a greased 9x13 casserole dish.

2. Place the bread slices over the sugar-butter mixture in the dish. In a bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt; pour this mixture over the bread. Cover the dish and let it stand in the refrigerator overnight.

3. The next morning, bake for 45 minutes in a 350? oven UNCOVERED. Serve while hot or the french toast will harden in the pan. It can be reheated.
