1 tablespoonButter
4 eachPork Chops
2 cupSauerkraut; drained and rinsed
1/4 cupOnion; chopped
4 eachApple; tart; peeled, cored & sliced
4 tablespoonBrown sugar

Upstate Braised Pork Chops with Sauerkraut Preparation

1. Melt thebutter in a large skillet. Add the pork chops and slowly brown on both sides. Remove the chops from the skillet and drain off fat.

2. Combine the sauerkraut, onion, apples, and sugar in a bowl. Pour this mixture into the skillet and place the pork chops on top of it. Cover and simmer about 45 minutes or until tender.

Recipe is quite easy to make and, along with mashed potatoes or boiled new potatoes, makes a very satisfying Old World dinner.
